FAQ
Getting Started
-
Awesome!
To get started, go to the menu bar at the top of this page and click on “contact” to send me a message. If I have availability, we can set up an introductory call. That gives us a chance to get a bit more of a feel for each other. If it feels good to both of us, we can set up a first session while we’re on that call.

I work entirely online these days, which means we can meet wherever you are most comfortable. Your living room, your office, your porch - anywhere with a good internet connection that is safe, private, and comfortable for you. We can even meet in your car…as long as you’re not driving during our session!
My clients have reported meeting this way to be easy, convenient, and effective. As a bonus for me, it makes it easy to meet your pets! I love being introduced to your dogs, cats, and other animal friends.
-
Absolutely! In fact, Google Meet is the only way I offer sessions now. It is simple, secure, and HIPAA compliant.
-
Thank you for thinking of me for your loved one!
If you know someone who you think would benefit from working with me, please have them contact me directly. I’d be happy to connect with them.
Working Together
-
When we start working together, we choose a regular day and time based on mutual availability. That time is then reserved for you!
-
Weekly. I have found that meeting any less frequently than that just isn’t enough to get real traction for change, so I no longer offer that as a scheduling option.
If you would like to meet more frequently than that, we may be able to work out twice-weekly scheduling for a while. That depends on both your needs and my availability, so let me know if that is an option you would like to explore.
-
Sessions last between 50 and 60 minutes. We can absolutely go the full 60, and if we feel like we’ve hit a good point to wrap up for the week, we don’t have to go exactly 60 minutes

Great question!
Our first session together is usually a bit of a “get to know you” session. This is a chance for you to share more in depth with me about you, your life, and the concerns that prompted you to get in touch in the first place.
After that, most sessions look like a conversation. Get comfy, bring your coffee, and let’s talk about what’s up for you.
Depending on your needs and interests, we can also include somatic (body-awareness based) and energetic process, archetypal exploration, dreamwork, and spiritual techniques into our sessions. I may suggest and lead you through specific processes and exercises. I’m happy to offer suggestions for things you can do between sessions to practice concepts we’ve explored and support a deeper integration of the work as well.
Ultimately, it’s who you are, the concerns you bring, and your intention that determine the nature of our work together. This experience is custom tailored to you.
-
The short answer is that it’s up to you!
The truth is, there is one size fits all answer here. Many people come in to work on a particular challenge or set of issues. Because we’re complex beings, and because the various parts of ourselves and our lives don’t operate independently from each other, we often end up working on a lot of other things too.
A few people come for a few months, get what they need, and are ready to be done. Most people who start with me discover that the process quickly becomes a meaningful and valuable part of their lives, and end up choosing to continue for several years or more.
LGBTQ+
-
I sure am, and I’m queer too! Gay cis man here, he/him pronouns, and a lot of personal and professional experience with our diverse community. You’re welcome here.
-
Sure will. The trans community is near and dear to my heart. From the start, about 20% of my practice at any given time has been made up of people who identify as trans or nonbinary.
Following WPATH guidelines, I am happy to write a letter for any regular client who is seeking gender-affirming surgery.
(Please note that I don’t offer psychological evaluation or letter writing as a one-off consultation service.)
Payment
-
I use Square for all payments. It is simple and secure.
At the end of each week, I will send you an invoice. Simply open that email, click the blue “Pay Invoice” button, and follow the prompts on your screen.
-
I don’t. All of my services are private pay only. My schedule is limited, and accepting insurance would substantially impact the time I’m able to spend actually doing therapy.
Some people are able to receive at least partial reimbursement from their insurance companies for seeing me as an out of network provider. If this is something you would like to explore, let me know and I’ll explain how that process works.
